Healthy Happens Here: Teen Health Arkansas Programs

Teen Health Arkansas (THAR) programs bring a teen-centered approach to education and engagement, building an evidence-based foundation for a lifetime of health opportunities and choices. Working with teens, the adults who care for them, and the decision-makers and leaders who influence them, THAR programs prepare communities to support teen health, making it possible for healthy teens to contribute to the health and prosperity of their communities.

Youth leave our programs more confident and capable to:

  • Talk about their health needs with a trusted adult and healthcare providers
  • Communicate with teachers and supervisors in school or work settings
  • Recognize and reframe negative thoughts
  • Recognize and navigate feeling stressed, angry, or triggered
  • Talk to their peers about preventing STIs and pregnancy, including abstinence
  • Talk with a partner about protecting their health

Our Pillars for Impact

Healthy Youth: We build power with youth and young adults for their health and well-being
Systems Change: We shape health systems, policy through youth-led advocacy and youth-adult partnership
