Position Overview

The Teen Health Arkansas (THAR) Training Cadre is designed to strengthen statewide capacity
to deliver high-quality health education and youth development programming across Arkansas.
Through this initiative, Teen Health Arkansas will recruit and train a cohort of facilitators to
support the expansion of evidence-informed programming in communities across the state.

Cadre members will serve as trained facilitators who deliver Teen Health Arkansas programming
in schools, community-based organizations, faith-based institutions, and other youth-serving
settings. Facilitators will represent diverse geographic regions of Arkansas and will play an
important role in expanding access to education and resources that support adolescent health
and well-being.

Cadre members will participate in comprehensive training on core THAR curricula, including
Teen Talk Arkansas (TTA) and Foundations in Sex Ed, as well as additional training focused on
youth engagement, facilitation skills, and effective program implementation. Upon completion of
training, cadre members will be prepared to implement programming with fidelity while adapting
their approach to meet the needs of diverse communities. These trainings may cover sexual
health, workforce development, parent-child communication, and mental health, among other
topics.

Program Goal

The goal of the THAR Training Cadre is to recruit and develop a statewide network of 8–10
trained facilitators, one from each region of Arkansas, who are equipped to deliver Teen Health
Arkansas programming consistently, effectively, and with cultural responsiveness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cadre members will be responsible for supporting the delivery and expansion of Teen
    Health Arkansas programming across the state. Responsibilities include:
  • Participating in all required training sessions related to Teen Health Arkansas curricula
    and facilitation practices.
  • Delivering Teen Health Arkansas programming, including Teen Talk Arkansas (TTA) and
    Foundations in Sex Ed, in schools, community organizations, and other youth-serving
    settings.
  • Implementing programming with fidelity while ensuring that content is delivered in a
    culturally responsive and youth-centered manner.
  • Collaborating with Teen Health Arkansas staff and community partners to coordinate
    program implementation and outreach.
  • Supporting participant engagement through interactive facilitation and effective
    communication with youth and community stakeholders.
  • Collecting and submitting required program documentation, attendance records, and
    evaluation materials.
  • Participating in periodic check-ins, professional development opportunities, and cadre
    meetings to strengthen facilitation skills and ensure program quality.
Qualifications
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as public health, education,
    social work, health education, or a related discipline;
    • *or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in
      public speaking with a focus on health prevention education and advocacy.
  • Demonstrate experience facilitating trainings, workshops, or classroom-based
    instruction, particularly with youth or community audiences.
  • Be comfortable with public speaking and leading interactive group discussions.
  • Demonstrate comfort facilitating discussions on sexual health, healthy relationships, and
    youth development while maintaining a professional, respectful, and culturally
    responsive approach.
  • Have the ability to facilitate programming in the evenings and on weekends based on
    community partner needs.
  • Have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and personal auto insurance, with
    the ability to travel within Arkansas as needed.
  • Maintain access to basic facilitation equipment, including a laptop computer.
Training and Support

Cadre members will receive:

  • Comprehensive training in Teen Health Arkansas curricula and facilitation practices.
  • Ongoing technical assistance and support from Teen Health Arkansas staff.
  • Opportunities for continued professional development related to youth engagement,
    sexual health education, and community outreach.
Compensation

Cadre members will be compensated at a rate of $40 per hour for approved work performed.
Compensable time may include preparation for trainings, training setup, facilitation,
post-training debriefs, and participation in scheduled Cadre meetings, as approved by Teen
Health Arkansas.

Travel and Meal Reimbursement

Contractors may be eligible for reimbursement for approved travel expenses incurred while
supporting Teen Health Mississippi programming. This may include mileage and meals when
travel is required for events, trainings, or program implementation.

Mileage will be reimbursed in accordance with the current U.S. General Services Administration
(GSA) mileage rate or Teen Health Mississippi’s board-approved mileage rate.
Additional details regarding travel eligibility, reimbursement procedures, and meal stipends will
be provided during onboarding.

Process

We will have a rolling application process, but applications received before May 30, 2026, will have priority. The position may be filled prior to that date.

    Once we have received all materials from a candidate, we will notify the candidate that we have a complete application.
  • After a review of applications received, we will schedule brief phone interviews with candidates meeting required qualifications. Candidates advancing to the later stages of the process will be asked to respond to open-answer questions, a job-related task, and a final interview. Candidates may be rejected at any point in the process.
  • The interview process will include thorough driving records and a social media background check as well as civil, criminal, and abuse background checks.
  • Submission of this application gives THMS permission to run a soft background check on the applicant.
